U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to Armenia to sign a series of new bilateral agreements with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzojan in Yerevan. The visit comes at a time when Armenia is distancing itself from Russia and seeking closer ties with Western nations. Armenia, a former Soviet republic in the Caucasus region, has traditionally maintained close security and economic ties with Moscow but has been reassessing its foreign policy orientation following regional tensions and conflicts.
