Bratislava Café Grant Under Scrutiny After Funding Rule Violations Alleged

Share:

A 140,000-euro government grant awarded to the Limetka association for a Bratislava café project has come under scrutiny after potential rule violations by the Arts Support Fund. The fund applied only a 5 percent co-financing requirement for the association, which experts say violates regulations for commercial activities. The Arts Support Fund (FPU), Slovakia's state agency that distributes grants for cultural projects, is required to enforce stricter co-financing rules when funding ventures that combine cultural activities with commercial operations. The unusually low co-financing threshold has raised questions about whether the fund properly evaluated the project's commercial nature before approving the substantial grant.
