Slovakia's parliament rejected an opposition proposal aimed at reducing benefits for government officials. The measure would have limited each ministry to a maximum of two state secretaries, cutting down on the number of high-level political appointees in government departments. The National Council, Slovakia's parliament, voted down the proposal, allowing the current system of government appointments to continue unchanged.
