EU Council and Parliament fail to reach agreement on migration policy reform

The European Union Council and European Parliament failed to reach agreement on reforming the bloc's migration policy during their latest round of negotiations. Diplomats and members of the European Parliament did agree on the core principles of planned stricter immigration rules, which aim to improve the repatriation system and increase deportations of rejected asylum seekers. The next round of talks between the two EU institutions is scheduled for June.
