Slovakia Lifts Final Fuel Restrictions Two Weeks After EU Infringement Proceedings

Share:

Slovakia's government has removed the last restrictions on motorists following the European Commission's launch of infringement proceedings two weeks ago. The country had introduced differentiated diesel prices in March, creating a system where fuel costs varied across different regions or categories. The government's decision to eliminate these final restrictions represents a complete retreat from the pricing policy after facing legal pressure from the European Union. The European Commission, the EU's executive arm responsible for ensuring member states comply with European law, initiated the infringement procedure against Slovakia over concerns that the fuel pricing system violated EU single market rules.
