Social care facilities operated by the Bratislava Self-Governing Region are undergoing deinstitutionalization to provide residents with more personalized care environments. The regional government is transforming large, impersonal institutional facilities into smaller, home-like settings where people requiring assistance can live in more comfortable and dignified conditions. The Bratislava Self-Governing Region, which oversees regional administration and social services in Slovakia's capital area, aims to ensure that vulnerable individuals no longer have to live in anonymous large-scale institutions but instead receive care in environments that better resemble actual homes.
