Industrial Buildings in Bratislava's Istrochem Complex Granted National Monument Status

Share:

Two industrial buildings in Bratislava's Istrochem complex have been designated as national cultural monuments, according to the Čierne diery (Black Holes) association. The former old power plant and the Vistra building received the protected status following a campaign that began in 2018 when Čierne diery, working with the Technical Heritage Protection Club, first submitted a petition for monument protection of these structures. However, the owners of the buildings have appealed the decision. Čierne diery is a Slovak organization dedicated to mapping, promoting and protecting the country's industrial and technical heritage. The designation aims to preserve these examples of Slovakia's industrial architecture, though the appeal process means their final status remains uncertain.
