Višňové Tunnel to Close for Major Repairs, Traffic Diverted Through Strečno

The Višňové tunnel, a key transport link in northern Slovakia, will be completely closed in both directions for more than ten days in May for maintenance work. During the closure, traffic will be diverted through an alternative route that passes below the village of Strečno, where authorities are simultaneously conducting slope stabilization work. The tunnel closure represents a significant disruption to one of Slovakia's major highway connections, as the Višňové tunnel serves as a critical passage through the mountainous terrain between Žilina and Martin regions.
