Belgian cyclist Jasper Philipsen won the Gent-Wevelgem spring classic, one of cycling's prestigious one-day races held in Belgium's Flanders region. During the final ascent of the Kemmelberg, a challenging climb that features prominently in Flemish cycling classics, two of the race favorites broke away from the main group of riders. Belgian Wout van Aert and Dutch rider Mathieu van der Poel, both considered among the strongest contenders for victory, launched their attack on this decisive section of the 249-kilometer course that connects the Belgian cities of Ghent and Wevelgem.
