UN Special Rapporteur Condemns Torture of Palestinians in Israeli Prisons

The UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories has condemned the torture of Palestinians in Israeli prisons. Francesca Albanese Edwards reported gathering information on 52 cases of various forms of torture or mistreatment, including 33 cases involving sexual torture and other forms of sexual abuse. The condemnation comes as international scrutiny continues over treatment of Palestinian detainees in Israeli detention facilities.
